Raptee.HV Motorcycle Launched, India’s First High-Voltage Electric Motorcycle

Raptee.HV, the Chennai-based EV startup, has officially launched India’s first high-voltage (HV) electric motorcycle, marking a significant leap forward in the electric two-wheeler industry. The motorcycle is developed using advanced electric car technology. It is poised to challenge rivals’ traditional 250-300 cc internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts. The company promises better performance but with the added benefits of significantly reduced heat generation and eco-friendliness.

High-voltage technology and Universal Charging Compatibility

Raptee.HV’s motorcycles are the first in India to utilize high-voltage technology typically found in electric cars. This enables them to deliver superior performance while adopting universal charging standards. The motorcycle is compatible with the 13,500 CCS2 car charging stations across India. The number that is expected to double within the next year. This universal compatibility gives riders the flexibility and convenience to charge their bikes wherever electric cars are charged.

Raptee.HV Motorcycle’s Competitive Pricing and Range

Priced at ₹2.39 lakhs, the Raptee.HV motorcycle is competitively positioned alongside its 250-300cc ICE rivals. Thus, making it an attractive option for riders looking to transition to electric without compromising on power or cost-efficiency. The motorcycle boasts an IDC-estimated range of 200 km and a real-world range of over 150 km per charge. The features offer ample distance for daily commutes or longer rides. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in under 3.5 seconds, making it a strong contender in the performance segment.

Advanced Safety and Warranty

Raptee.HV has ensured that its motorcycles meet the highest safety and quality standards. The battery pack is IP67 rated, providing resistance to water and dust, and adheres to all regulatory requirements. To add further peace of mind, Raptee.HV offers an 8-year battery warranty or up to 80,000 kilometers, aligning with the warranty standards typically seen in electric cars.

Software-Driven Performance

Beyond hardware, Raptee.HV motorcycles feature advanced software for an enhanced riding experience. The company has developed its custom operating system built on an automotive-grade Linux platform. This in-house software powers the HV technology and delivers a highly responsive and intuitive user interface. Riders can enjoy the benefits of smooth, software-driven performance combined with robust, high-voltage hardware.

The motorcycle will be available in four dynamic colors: Horizon Red, Arctic White, Mercury Grey, and Eclipse Black. The users can choose from a range of style options to appeal to different rider preferences.

Expansion Plans and Experience Centers

The delivery of India’s first HV electric motorcycle will start in January in Chennai and Bangalore. Raptee.HV plans to gradually expand into other key cities based on market demand for mid-premium motorcycles and the growing adoption of electric mobility. The company is also launching a Factory-Integrated Experience Centre called Tech Store.HV at its Chennai headquarters. This center will provide customers with a fully immersive experience, including factory tours that showcase the motorcycle production process.

To ensure a smooth and satisfying ownership experience, Raptee.HV will offer both direct-to-consumer services and traditional brick-and-mortar outlets. This blended approach aims to cater to modern consumer expectations while ensuring accessibility.

Visionary Leadership and Pioneering Tech

Dinesh Arjun, Co-founder & CEO, Raptee.HV – “Our goal was never to create an electric version of an ICE motorcycle, but to do justice to motorcycling with truly pioneering tech. We have taken the core of advanced electric car tech and engineered it for motorcycles. Launching India’s first high-voltage electric motorcycle was a technical challenge from the very beginning. Over the last 5 years, the amazing team at Raptee has had to build the entire architecture from scratch to make HV on 2Wheelers possible. That we have succeeded is a testament to what can be achieved with the right vision and a focus on innovation.

We believe our HV technology is the missing piece of the puzzle that will accelerate the electrification of motorcycles and revolutionize how motorcycles will be built in the future.”

Jayapradeep Vasudevan, CBO, Raptee.HV – “We are extremely excited to witness the passion and innovation coming to life as we launch our first motorcycle, setting new standards in the electric two-wheeler industry. The Indian motorcycle market is twice the size of the scooter market, and the low EV penetration in this larger segment presents a huge opportunity for us to explore, starting with our flagship model, the T30. As a team, we are fully committed to building the Raptee.HV brand by delivering a customer experience that matches the high standards of our motorcycles. In today’s context, automobiles, especially electric vehicles, are increasingly becoming electronics and software-driven, much like consumer durable products. With this in mind, we are inspired by premium consumer durable brands in shaping our approach to customer service.

We plan to introduce a wide range of digital and direct-to-consumer offerings to ensure that our customers enjoy a seamless ownership journey with Raptee.HV. Our network expansion will be rolled out in phases, starting with company-owned experience centers in Chennai and Bangalore. By learning from these initial markets, we will strategically expand into other regions and international markets at the right time over the next few years. We have a clear strategic roadmap for the next five years and aim to become a significant player in the EV industry in the years to come.”

Future Growth and Fundraising

Raptee.HV recently closed its Pre-Series A funding round, led by Bluehill Capital and Artha99 Ventures. It is in the final stages of closing its Series A round. These funds will support the company’s production ramp-up, dealership expansion, and the rollout of its e-bikes across various states. Therefore, driving growth in the electric mobility sector.

With a clear roadmap for the next five years, Raptee.HV is positioning itself to become a significant player in the electric vehicle industry. It is set to revolutionize the motorcycle market with high-voltage technology and a focus on innovation.
