Following a series of teasers, Xiaomi has officially announced the forthcoming launch of the MIX Fold 3 Smartphone, its next foldable smartphone model, set to debut in China on August 14th. The company has also shared images of the device, providing a glimpse into its design.
According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the phone is characterized by its sleekness and lightness, representing the company’s advancements in various foundational technology areas, such as structure and design.
The preceding MIX Fold 2 showcased an inventive micro-water droplet hinge and stacking technology, resulting in a remarkably slim 11.2mm profile when folded.
Emphasizing innovation, the CEO mentioned that the development of the MIX Fold 3 began from the ground up, involving a complete reconstruction from the original point. Through persistent dedication, Xiaomi engineers have formulated an optimum solution that combines current technology and craftsmanship, particularly in relation to the hinge mechanism.
In a groundbreaking departure from conventional industry paths, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 employs a “technology for space” approach through groundbreaking hinge innovation. This approach achieves a harmonious balance between thinness and lightweight attributes, thus setting a new benchmark for folding screen standards.
The teaser materials also confirm the incorporation of a leather back for the black variant, while a gold-colored glass back version will be offered as well. Additionally, the teaser showcases the LEICA VARIO-SUMMICRON lens, boasting a versatile aperture ranging from f/1.8 to f/2.9 for both the primary and periscope telephoto cameras.
